Transmission and distribution, as two critical components of the power system, play a vital role in efficiently and safely delivering electricity from power plants directly to consumers. In the entire electricity-generation chain, power plants first convert various energy sources into electrical energy. Once this process is complete, the electricity must be transmitted over long distances and across large capacities via the transmission grid. Typically composed of high-voltage transmission lines, the grid minimizes energy losses during transport, ensuring that power can be reliably delivered—even across vast geographic areas.

 

Immediately afterward, once the electricity reaches near the areas where it’s needed, the distribution system steps in to take over. The distribution network reduces the voltage levels and efficiently delivers power to various types of consumers—ranging from residential homes and commercial buildings to industrial facilities. This process demands that the distribution system be highly flexible and reliable, enabling it to meet the diverse energy needs of different users while maintaining stable power supply even during fluctuations in electricity demand. Moreover, with the advancement of smart grid technologies, modern transmission and distribution systems are increasingly becoming automated and intelligent. By leveraging real-time monitoring and data analysis, these systems can further optimize power distribution, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen the grid’s ability to handle unexpected disruptions—ultimately contributing to society’s sustainable development.
